Sankofa Solutions (PTY) LTD is a young household packaging waste handling organisation that seeks to address general household waste from ending up in landfills through environmentally sound waste management solutions in least developed communities.
Our mission is to bring awareness to environmental sustainability, reduce household packaging waste, prevent health hazards, and prove the environment by providing innovative and economical solutions to managing waste and reducing the impact of climate change.
At Sankofa solutions we are dedicated to ensuring every person including the youth take action against waste pollution. We provide a range of services to help individuals and communities reduce waste and increase their recycling. We offer educational programs, workshops, and resources to help people understand the importance of reducing waste and how to do it.

Simphiwe Sandile Zakwe, a dedicated sociopreneur, is leading the charge against waste-related crises in marginalized communities. Their mission focuses on rectifying waste disparities in underserved areas, where inadequate waste management infrastructure poses environmental and health risks. Simphiwe's approach involves tailored waste management strategies, including reduction, recycling, composting, and education, achieved through partnerships with local stakeholders, educational institutions, and environmental organisations.
The word "Sankofa" is an African word that originates from the Adinka tribe of the Akan people in Ghana, who speak the Twi language. san means to return; ko means to go; and fa means to fetch or go to seek. When the entire word is translated it reads as "Go back and get it", or "Go back and take it". The symbolic version of the word "Sankofa" is a mythical bird.
